What 2020 was like...

What 2020 was like...

Life is in phases, men are in sizes. Putting in constant effort will result in growth and development. It may seem like very little progress, but something is happening. Efforts are building up and will result into something great.

It can be difficult to understand this and keep going. But don't lose track. Hold your horses. It will happen soon.

Things I'm grateful for.

  • I'm grateful for life. 2020 was crazy to say the least. But I scaled through. Being healthy and alive is best thing that happened to me and the people I care about in 2020. I'm grateful for family and friends.

  • I'm grateful for my personal growth as a person, career wise and all round. 2020 was the year I got better at coding. I learnt a new programming language and a few frameworks. At some point it felt like I was dumb and couldn't learn new things. But constant learning and not giving up helped me achieve success. I made sure I carried on. One thing I've learnt is that, at the start of learning something new, it will seem difficult and unachievable. With continuous learning at least an hour everyday, and not giving up, it will get better.

  • I got to work on two open source projects and it was 100% the best thing that happened to me. It was supper insightful. I learnt to collaborate with other people from different parts of the world working on the project. I worked on RetroGram which is a platform to read year in review of people from around the world. It was an exciting project and it is a project I'm proud of. I also got to work on the Ushahidi platform. I worked on accessibility and I learnt a whole lot.

  • I also got an internship where I worked with a new programming language, collaborated with other team members and I had a great time while working there.

I'm grateful for the things I have had, the things I have and the things I don't have because, I'll have them soon.

Here's what I'm looking forward to in 2021.

  • First and foremost, life and good health. These two are paramount.

  • I'm looking forward to getting my first job as a developer by March of 2021.

  • I want to make new friends and surround myself with people who have the same goals I have.

  • I want to be consistent on social media and make important connections.

  • I want to read more books.

  • I wasn't able to travel all through 2020 so I'm going to travel more in 2021 and live my best life.
